History
During World War II, the company was one of the first to develop fish finders, which were underwater detection devices used by naval forces such as submarines, for peaceful use. In 1955, the company successfully developed the world’s first all-transistor fish finder, which led to the founding of SUZUKI FISH FINDER CO.,LTD.
June 1955 | Kohei Suzuki founded Suzuki Fish Finder Co., Ltd. |
1959 | The company was hit by the Ise Bay Typhoon, which washed away all of its offices and factories, dealing a major blow to the company. |
1965 | The company purchased a 2,000 m2 site in Mitani-cho, Gamagori-shi, Aichi Prefecture, where its previous head office was located, and completed construction of its company factory the following year. |
December 1975 | Founder Kohei Suzuki dies. Takayasu Suzuki becomes president the following January. |
1977 | Factory B is established in the Gamagori division. |
1980 | Completed construction of new head office building in Hanada Sanbancho, Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture. |
1983 | Completion of comprehensive environmental testing laboratory at Gamagori Division. |
1984 | New Technology Development Center completed. |
1985 | Purchased a factory site of approximately 3,500 m2 in Mamizukacho, Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture. In the same year, completed construction of the Toyohashi Business Division on the same site. |
1987 | Built a new state-of-the-art comprehensive environmental testing laboratory at the Toyohashi Division. |
1994 | As an alternative to Loran receivers, a new low-cost GPS color plotter becomes a huge hit. |
1995 | Development of a new 6-inch color LCD model. |
March 1996 | President Takayasu Suzuki retires. Hatsumi Tajima becomes president. |
February 2001 | President Hatsumi Tajima retires. Tetsuyoshi Suzuki becomes president. In August, the head office building is closed and integrated with the Toyohashi division. |
2005 | Development of a 4-inch small searchlight sonar. |
2006 | New head office building completed on the Toyohashi Division site. |
February 2011 | President Tetsuyoshi Suzuki retires. Fumihisa Kaneko becomes president. |
2012 | Development of 6-inch digital sonar. |
